Umm, don't know! Someone here will though. If you don't get an answer you could try the main forum. I don't think eucalyptus oil would be good. I think it's quite strong smelling. I think I have seen people here saying to use swarfega , but again I'm not sure. You could try a search for 'cleaning boars' or similar terms, in the forum search option. I really don't know for sure. The best option is to use neither until someone knowledgable can help. Lots of people here have boars.

Please do not post the same question in two seperate sections of the forum. Generally unless it is something specific to a certain country a question like this should be in the main Cavy Chat forum, so I'm combining this with your other thread.

Do not use eucalyptus oil. It is caustic and poisonous.

I don't know what swefega is.

I have heard that the safest thing to use is Dawn dishwashing soap. If you don't have Dawn in the UK then try a good brand of dishwashing soap known to cut grease. Make sure it's fairly mild though and rinse thoroughly

And why do I think I really dont want to know what boar grease is, or where the gland is, but its probably important. So, what should I look for, how do I clean it? why? And, if I have my boar nuetered, does this eliminate the problem. (a two for one deal... no babies, no grease?)

I think you maybe meant Swarfega? I found information on it at Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swarfega Reading this definition, I wouldn't recommend it for use on your piggy. Being that it is primarily for removing garage grease and dirt, I would think it would be too harsh for a piggy's sensitive skin.

the grease gland is located where their tail would be if they had one.

Do you have any sort of dishwashing liquid that you could try? These are usually gentle and rinse cleanly off of hands and piggies. Swarfega also says that it is hydrophobic, which means it won't clean off with just water, so you would end up having to bathe your piggy's backside anyway.

Try something that is advertised as being mild. Dawn, Palmolive, Ivory would all be good brands to try. If you don't have those, make sure you stay away from antibacterial liquids or bands that are supposed to be extra strong.

Correct. You want the liquid you would use in the sink when you wash dishes by hand.

I use baby shampoo. First, I got him wet, then put the baby shampoo on him, and I gently rubbed it around to make sure I got the area well soaked. I let it stay on him a few minutes and then rubbed it againand rinsed it well. It came off. Also on my female, I guess he got it on her and she has semi-long hair. It was a mess. I did the same with her and it came right off. Hope this might help.

The grease problem stopped after I had my 2 boars neutered.
