I am a piggy moma out of need. We got ours from a family that had bought her as pet and the little girl was allergic, and no one was loving her.So I took her and she gets tons of loves.I did my homework when we inherited her so I knew what to feed her and how to take care of her. When my neighbor got a baby pig we let them meet and I realized she needs a buddy. The baby has turned out to be male so I am not doing those visits anymore.I found a rescue and when I asked about my cage size she sort of shamed me, and hasn't contacted me since so maybee we won't get a buddy.I never thought much about our cage becuase it came with her and she runs loose when I am in the kitchen. Any way the 27' that two cubes would make is a bit too wide for where I need to keep her year round cage.I saw voodoos cage and I can do that. I can go long 4 or alittle more feet and up too. Do they really climb ramps? But I need to stay about 22" wide is that wide enough for running laps? My girl is usually calm in her cage but wild out of it. But maybee I can make her happier in her cage and she would run around more.

Giving your little pigger a C&C cage will dramatically change its overall happiness and you'll hardly tell its the same GP. The site recomends 7.5 sq ft. for one Guinea Pig but more is always better if you can do it. Yes they really climb ramps, mine sprint up theres daily countless times and love it.

If your GP has enough room to run laps around the cage it'll be happy. If you cant fit 2 full grids between a tight space just overlap them and use zipties to seccure them together. A 2x3 is recommended for 1 GP but by no means does that mean they cant have bigger.

May I also suggest looking into using fleece for the bedding, though spot cleaning gets tideous it looks much better. And my 3 Girls like to just lounge wherever they may lay since everything is soft and comfy. No stench at all in the cage if its cleaned fully once a week.

Good to hear you adopted a needy pigger and welcome to the forums! :cheerful:

I would never have thought of overlapping them. That is a great idea!I will be a couple inches short at least on the closet side of the room[doors]. I have not adopted a second piggy. The closest rescue is almost three hours away.I don't think she thought I was a good enough prospect because I didn't realize my rabbit cage was too small. I only get that far inland maybee twice a year since I can't actually do the long drive alone [bad leg].I am going this month thats why I was thinking about a rescue now. For now I will work on the cage and maybee the rescue will contact me back.I know the only place locally to get a piggy is the next town overs pet shop and I don't like the way they are set up. I will hold out to adopt.Maybee the pound will have one one day.Untill then we will just have to give Hon exrta loves! Thanks for the tip!!
