So I have read that Kaytee Timothy pellets, along with nutriphase have the carcinogenic ingredient in them. My question is this...other than oxbow are there any other brands reccomended that are sold at local petstores? I dont want to hurt my piggies with what I am feeding them, but I also dont want to pay an arm and a leg to have to ship food to my apartment.

According to oxbow's product finder, you should be able to find oxbow at the following locations.

Mentor Vet Clinic
6231 Reynolds Rd , Mentor OH 44060
Phone: 440-257-4646
www.companionpetcare.com

Pet Paradise
35535 Euclid Ave , Willoughby OH 44094
Phone: 440-942-9016

That vet clinic sees small animals too such as guinea pigs so if you need a vet close by, there you go.

I do take my pigs to the Mentor Vet clinic and asked them about the oxbow, the only catch was that a 2lb bag was almost $10 through them, so it would be cheaper in the long run to get it shipped, I can get 10lbs for $20. If this is the only thing I can do then thats what I will do, I take it there are really no "healthy" foods at pet stores?

Call the Pet Paradise place and see how much they want for oxbow. Oxbow and KM's are the best pellets out there. But KM's has to be shipped because you can only buy it online. If you cannot get oxbow for a good price then look for Mazuri 5664 (it's a plain pellet). It's not the best, but not the worst either. I use it myself, but if you have older pigs you have to limit pellets because it's alfalfa based and has ground corn in it, but it's plain pellets, has no ethoxyquin, no animal fats and such in it. I used to use oxbow but the shipping is a killer. I can get 25lb bags of Mazuri here for about $20 a bag, some people get it much cheaper than I do. If you can get oxbow, your pigs will be better off.

Have you looked into having KM's products shipped to you? Most people find that her stuff is some of the highest quality hay and pellet available, and even with shipping, the prices for those in the mainland states are much cheeper then buying from the store. She said before on GL that she can combine shipping for an order of pellet and hay up to a certain size, offhand I don't remember what the size of each was, but it was a pretty substancial for those with only a couple piggies. I stronly suggest sending her an email to see how it would work out, the shipping may sound a little expensive, but it most likely will smoke the prices you pay locally, afterall, someone has to pay shipping.
