  1. 3 years gone, new beginnings

Three years ago I became so active in the guinea pig community. I helped Canadians via my care site, I was a moderator for a while on some forums, I had an online store making bedding and don't forget my youtube videos! Sadly years of work came to a fast halt. Firstly my marriage of may years ended, my ex husband tried to take half of everything, even my sewing company. I backed away from everything to get my life back together.

During that time I surrendered some of my guinea pigs ...
  2. Introducing Pearl

In the wake of Spuds' passing, I adopted a new companion for Mable. She had been surrendered to petco as the girl that had owned her didn't want to take care of her any more. They said that her name was Daisy and that she was 6 months old. I renamed her Pearl and figure she's definitely older than 1 year; she has adult nails, weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces, and has cataracts.

I was afraid that when I got her, it would feel like I was replacing Spuds. She looks so much like him, but I realized ...
  3. 3 Years of Guinea Pigs

  4. Meddlesome Parents...

My new pigs are settling in pretty well, but breaking their bad habit of bar-chewing is not going well. They have pretty much figured out that bar-chewing only makes me come over and pet them or pick them up, which they aren't the biggest fans of, but they know something else: My parents are not me. They will hand out cilantro and carrots to whiny, bitey pigs. It's really frustrating, especially since now I have no idea how many vegetables the pigs are eating anymore. I tell my parents to ignore ...
  5. Nail Clipping and Coroplast Biting

My two new piggies are horrible little coroplast munchers! They've figured out what times of the day they can expect vegetables and if they don't get them fast they try to chew their way out of the cage. I bought something to cover the edges of the coro with, and it works really well... the parts I've been able to force on so far, anyway. Maybe this plastic is a little too heavy duty.

Today I also clipped the new girls' nails for the first time. I noticed both girls have calluses on ...
