Hi
Today is cage cleaning day, and I had the piggies separated while I cleaned as Pumpkin is in heat and they are squabbling. Her towel had a pink urine spot on it, and I was wondering if pigs ever bleed while in heat. I don't think so, but thought I'd check before I head off to the vet. Would eating beetroot yesterday morning cause pink urine this morning, about 27 hours later?
There are no other signs of discomfort. Weight, appetite and pooping are all normal.
Also, if a vet visit is required, is it of any use to try to get a urine sample from Pumpkin in advance (by isolating her in a container and sucking up the urine in a syringe) for the vet, to save Pumpkin from unpleasantness at the vet, or will the vet want to take her own sample regardless? Here is a pic of the towel:
Thanks for your help!
