Last night, the girls dug the fleece up and chewed part of the puppy pad (both the blue plastic edge and some of the pad). I've spent all day watching them like a hawk. They're both eating normally, and peeing and pooping. One had a period during the day when her poops were slightly larger and softer, but they have now returned to normal. Neither one seems bloated or acts uncomfortable when I feel her stomach. I have avoided veggies today to avoid trapped gas, just in case.

When are we out of the woods?
Should it be fine to resume veggies tomorrow morning?

They (or one of them) nibbled along the edge for about 7-8" and took one nibble out of the middle of the white pad.

You may want to consider to switching to Invacare incontinence pads which are waterproof on one side, reusable, and can be bleached. Saves the environment and so far they seem to last quite some time.

That what I use for free time with fleece over it.. Work great..

Thanks all. We've passed the 24 hour mark and all is well.
We just adopted them about 2 months ago, so we're still experimenting with what works. Even the dirty fleece in the washing machine is still freaking my husband out a bit, so we'll have to work up to washable pads. They hadn't tried to dig under the fleece before, so I had stopped using the binder clips and had just been wrapping the fleece around. Needless to say, the binder clips are back on.
