View Full Version : Upper Levels Ideas for loft going the long way

I have a 2 x 5 cage on top of a bureau and I added a 2x2 loft to one end. Since I am short I am having trouble reaching over the grids to get the girls or to put them back in their kitchen up there. Can anyone post a pic if they have a cage with an upper level going the long way? For my cage that would mean a 5 x 1 or 2. I can't figure out the best way to support it. Thanks!

Go to photo gallery and search for 1x5 loft.

Support it with a 1x1 or 1x2 board going from one end of the cage to the other.

Do you mean you want the loft to be the full width of the cage?
I have a 2x4 cage with a 1x2 loft that is not in the corner. I used PVC pipe (spray painted) for support.

Gandalf, is there a ramp? How do the pigs get up and down?

Ha, ha -- the above photo does look like there is no way up there.

Here it is from another angle:
