I suppose it would not be hard but it would be expensive! You would have to get thick plexiglass that does not bend and give. There are many thicknesses available but the thick stuff is very expensive.

you could form a box and would have to seal the edges with a safe non-toxic epoxy. Not sure what is available that would be safe. You should probably still put some type of bracket on each corner to ensure it was sturdy.

The bad thing is you could not expand it easily and the sides could get scratched up over time and look bad.

I would suspect it would be very hard because whatever you use on it to form a box would have to be non-toxic. Also it would be very expensive probably more so than a C&C cage. The plexi-glass would have to be sturdy and have no sharp edges so the piggies (or any other pet) won't get hurt. And it would be very hard to expaned if you ever wanted or needed to.

You can attach a sheet of plexiglass to your coroplast. It would be much cheaper than making a full cage from plexiglass. Drill holes and attach with cable ties. No glue needed. This is safe for pigs.

What do you think 14" tall by say 45" long would cost in plexi glass?

It varies by thickness. Not sure you can get it that narrow except to buy a larger piece and have it cut. I think my piece (it was 60 inches long) was $38? but it is not as thick as I would recommend to others. I think the next thickness was around $60 but not sure about that. These were Home Depot prices. You can go on line and look at their prices too.

If I measured correctly, my grids should be 14" x 14" by 1/8" thick. Do you think 1/8" thick is thick enough?

For small pieces like yours, 1/8" should be thick enough.

I bought two pieces of 1/4" thick 9 inches x 8 ft. For $20 each. They are scrap pieces from Sabic Polymershapes.
If you have a location near you, call them. They can cut to size for you.

I DO have one near me!! What exactly do I ask for?

So I was thinking, since I am enlarging my cage I will need to order new coroplast anyway so now I am contemplating doing BOTH the front of the coroplast AND the front 3-4 grids.

If I did the front coroplast like this:

can I still use 1/8" thick? I think id like to add a binder spine lip over it just to protect it from chewing. How thick is the coroplast from the cage store? Is it 1/8" thick or is it thicker than that?

When I called my local store, I asked for plexiglass scraps that large enough to be cut to the size I want. I tell them the sizes and they said they will check their scrap pile.

I'm not sure if the 1/8" will be wobbly for the longer piece.

I haven't seen coroplast from the cage store. If it's a standard 4mm, it's around 5/32"
