Hi! I'm active in a forum in Switzerland and only just discovered this one today. Since I have a special relationship with the U.S., I was very happy to discover it.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see that in the U.S., fleece bedding for guinea pigs is not as unusual as in Switzerland. It's hard to find good tips and discussions about fleece bedding over here.
Some pictures of my piggies and the summer cage:

I have three now, and two more are about to be adopted. It will be one male and four females.

By the way, I forgot to mention that the cage is very save with netting all around, even on the ground. It's mostly in the shade, except in the evening. It never gets hot here. I sit by the piggies several hours a day, reading and watching them, so I would notice if one of them wasn't well. As soon as it gets colder, I take them into the house, where they stay all winter. But I don't have the same amount of space inside the house, that's why I opted for an outside cage.
I know that many people think an outside cage is bad. I beg to differ. I think that guinea pigs can be well cared for in inside or outside cages. Or they can unfortunately be neglected in inside or outside cages.

Welcome, I think your piggies looked very happy in that big cage. I think you have to do what works for you your budget. I think if you take care and precautions for them out doors is okay. Me personally I dont like outside dogs or cats because I worry alot.

Yes, they seem to be happy and run around like crazy.
I guess if I lived in Mississippi, or any other place where it gets hot and humid, I wouldn't keep them outside either. And I do worry about them a lot, too. That's why I go check on them every once in a while, and sit with them a lot. But, having built the cage ourselves, we know that it is absolutely save. No cat, dog, fox or ferret can get in. We don't have snakes or any other poisonous animals here.
But it is definitely more work and it also probably costs more than an inside cage, due to the safety precautions one must take. So I understand anyone wanting to keep the pigs inside and close by.
For me, it would be nicer to have them inside the house. For them, I think it doesn't matter. They just want space to run around and be well cared for.

Oh, I just realized I didn't mention my name or age when I introduced myself. How rude, please excuse me! My name is Monika and I'm 37 years old.

This is the inside of the hut. The little door on the right is usually always open, so the guinea pigs have access to the 50 square foot outside area at all times.

Here some more pics I took today. As you might see, the littlest one has a bit of fungus around her eye. I took her to the vet today and she is being treated.
