My friend, might be getting a guinea pig, but she has a limit. The coroplast near us is too expensive, so it there anything she could use instead of coroplast? Is there any homemade items she could use? Or could she use just towels? I told her that might be a ad idea, but we need some good ideas for cheap homemade items.

Use a shower curtain with towels and fleece on top. I did this for years with no problems. Though now I do have coro and I LOVE it.

Any reasonably thick waterproof material (like a shower curtain) should do.

Thank you! I heard that you can buy it at a dollar store. Is that true?

Be careful though I bought one from the dollar store it stunk incredibly like chemicals. The smell never went away. I ended up throwing it out.

Yeah at home depot or lowe's most thick and waterproof materials can be used. I was going to make a shower curtain one but people said it smelled really bad and they loved chloroplast more. But just in case it is called twinwall plastic at home depot. Other than that somebody used cardboard and covered it with a waterproofing spray. I think chip123 was going to do this. I don't remember.

Just make sure you use something like shelves or grids for walls high enough.

I found a gas station giving away their old signs for free, it makes for a colorful cage but is worth it. You might be able to ask around.
