I know that the general recommendation for 2 males is a 2x5 as the minimum but 2 females do fine in a 2x4. However, what if you have a female and a neutered male? They have lived together for the last 2 months (minus the last few weeks while the male has been recuperating from a neuter). I was just wondering about thoughts on this? I would like to get away with a 2x4 but, if that is less than the minimum I can try to do a 2x5. If you have a neutered male and female living together, what size cage are you using?

I have my male and female in a 3x4, which is equivalent to a 2x6. I would say at least 2x4, but the bigger the better. Go as big as you can because there might be some drama when you're girl goes through her cycle.

Edit to add:
Wait, did I miss something? Is your female fixed too? You said they were living together prior to the neuter.

No, she isn't fixed. I rescued them from a situation where they were living together as decorations in a coffee table eating "fruit loop' guinea pig food and no hay. The girl was barely 3 months old but she is on pregnancy watch. Just a few more weeks to go now and she will be in the clear and I still feel nothing and her weight gain is normal "growing" weight. :) They are miserable alone. :(

Oh, I see! Poor babies, I'm sure they are so glad you have them now! Hopefully the little girl isn't pregnant, but if they were together for awhile then she most likely is. I'll still keep my fingers crossed, though.

A 2x4 is fine for a male and female. Pigs are still very individual though and some still may need more space but generally 2x4 is fine.

Okay, look, the minimum acceptable size for two pigs is a 2x3, not a 2x4 or a 2x5. The suggestion to house females in a 2x4 and males in a 2x5 is fine, but it's most certainly not a "requirement" of any kind and I think that a 2x3 or 2x4 is going to be more than fine for your altered pair.

@Chritazy here is a photo of how they lived before I convinced the man who owned 10 snakes to give them to me:

Thats disgusting..The worse thing is, is that the owner probably thought he was doing a good job of taking care of them. Terrible.

That's horrible! How did they breathe? And what's with the log...are they supposed to climb it? That just boggles my mind!

Thank goodness they're out of there now!
