Just planning my new cage an I really want to make it 3 wide but my correx is 4 ft wide so that would only leave a 2 an a half inch lip goin up the side - does this matter? Does it need to be 6 inches?
i know I can cut it in half an do it that way but I was hoping to keep enough spare to do the loft xx

Usually the correx/coroplast tray goes inside the grids. For 3 grids wide, you'll need to score at 41 inches, that leaves 3.5 inches on each side. That's high enough if you use fleece. For bedding, there might be more bedding being kicked out.

If your piggies are not babies or on the smaller side, you don't need taller coroplast sides (10 inches is recommended for babies)
