Hi everyone!
My name is Jennifer. I’m an early childhood educator. My first full time job begins in a few days! Very excited!
I love my students and my piggies! Sometimes I look at my students, and would secretly picture how they would look like as guinea pigs, LOL. I find some have quite a resemblance in appearance and/or behaviour to my guinea pigs! I do the same to my friends. I know, I’m terrible!
Clearly, I’m a chatterbox. I never type formally unless it’s for work/school. I use a lot of exclamation marks and emoticons in my writing, and am quite childlike. So, I apologize in advance! lol
I have four 2nd hand store bought cages and one extra in case for some kind of emergency (fights, illnesses, etc.):
- 2 young boars: Benny and Dino
- 1 pregnant sow: Sheepo
- 1 elder sow: Vanilla
- 1 neutered boar and 1 young sow: Manny and Cotton
Even though I have raised guinea pigs for a while now, there are still a lot more for me to learn and how to better handle things. I'm here to learn and be better owner to these precious piggies. So, your guidance is always appreciated~
I adopted all of them from other owners who urgently can no longer care for them. Benny, Dino and Sheepo were the most recent addition to the family and were thought by the previous owner to be all sows and well... not pregnant. It’s a bit exciting but scary when I found out that’s untrue. There’s so much to consider and I’m trying to prepare for the best and worst case scenario. Also, I am planning to start a C&C cage within this year. Still in the midst of researching, so you’ll see me asking a lot of newb questions in relation to cage, introducing guinea pigs to each other, pregnant guinea pigs, etc.
I’m thankful and amazed by the way I group them works. They get along really well! But, I feel they really deserve a bigger space. And with my new job, I can finally afford it soon!
Can I just say how amazing this forum and the members are?! I started my first 3 posts on my first day of registration and so many of you replied. You all are so informative, understanding, forgiving, friendly, and respectful! Thank you! I know I’ll love it here!
