Hello everyone, I'm aeiou, and I am all for cavys!

I have had many pets before cavys, and I never quite loved one as much. I have a turtle, fish, and hamster as well as cavys, but they all take the second place compared to them! I remember the feeling the first time I held one....ahhh... it was love at first sight! However, my parents don't quite agree...I make the best of it though!

I have three pigs in a 2x5 single level C&C cage, and they get lots of veggies and out of cage play time.

I got my first cavy from a friend, whose parents where about to sell her to a pet store. I got the next two from a pet store (don't yell at me..if I could drive i would've gotten them from a rescue! my parents weren't about to drive me all the way to a rescue though)

Welcome. This site has lots of valuable information.

You should have contacted a rescue--some will come out to do a home check and bring the pigs out to you. Why would your parents drive you to a pet store but not a rescue?

That's still not an excuse. You don't have Aunts, Uncles, cousins, grandparents, or friends who could have driven you? It seems careless that you knew about rescueing and chose not to.
Nethertheless, welcome to the forum.

Congradulations on your peggers. They are beautiful

What gender are your peggers?
Are you sure?
I hate to be a wet blanket but please be sure that they are the same gender or you will end up with babies. Guinea Pigs are very prolific and can have many babies and things get out of hand very quickly.
Babies are cute but there is a very high mortality rate for both mothers and babies

I recently heard of someone who started with 2 piggies and within a year there were over 150 guinea pigs in their home.

I ended up with babies a year ago when I didn't realize they could be pregnant at 3 weeks. She was being housed with her dad when I went to pick her up.

Thanks! I'm in love with them too! XD

And no worries, after all the pandemonium of URI from the pet store pigs, my parents would happily drive to a rescue to avoid the trouble!!! Fingers crossed for a pair of boars for my birthday! :D Doubtful but possible! haha

and chances are, reesie was not separated from her brothers/father soon enough :p I might be getting more pigs than I paid for! Although I got her free technically, the check-out guy at the pet store didn't know there were two in the box! XD I was laughing to myself the whole way home!

I'm very disturbed and disgusted by your comment.

If she is pregnant then she has a 1 in 5 chance of not making it. You really hope that the OPs pig is put at risk?? I'm very put off by the way you wrote that. It can easily become a life-threatening situation that is no laughing matter.

OP- do you have a cavy vet on hand for if she is pregnant and something goes wrong?
You'll also need to baby proof the cage.

Yep I do and I'm hoping she isn't because even though babies would be cute, a stillborn or a dead mama would be worse! My theory is: why breed and have a chance of losing a sow when you can just buy an already born baby, no risk! Still get a baby! :)

And I think I am going to stop buying supplies at petsmart! Also, I'm switching my pigs to oxbow cavy cuisine! Yay
