You can make them by hand if you are good at hand sewing. I know with my cavy caves, I prefer to sew them by machine because I know how rough some pigs can get with them.

Also, hand sewing doesn't hold up in the washing machine well.

I have to disagree with this statement. I have hand sewed many things and have washed them over and over and they are still holding up great. If you are a bad sewer they may not hold up, but if you are a good sewer, they will.

Have you ever seen any of the hand sewn quilts that were made in the 1800's that are still around today and have been washed? I have and they look beautiful still. That is an example of hand sewing holding up not only over centuries, but being washed as well.

What I ment was my hand sewing but my hand was on auto pilot and I didn't read it after I posted.
