Ramps Adding Ramp and bedding question

I have three boars. Our youngest is growing quickly, so I have decided to add a second floor. I have read that ramps take away from floor space, even with the second floor. I was thinking of putting the ramp away from the edges so the boys could still do laps, and using the ramp as a hidey. Would this still be a big detriment to the floor space? Oh, my cage is currently 3x5.

Also, I had someone tell me that they use pine bedding, and then put fleece on top of that. Any thoughts on this set up? I currently use towles under fleece, but I am getting u haul pads on wednesday.
