I have Whistles in a 2X4 with 2X1 loft. I'm getting my fleece soon/I'm currently in the debate to change his cage to 2X5.
I don't have the transportation nor the spare money to go get another sheet of coroplast.

I mean, I could try to cut off the walls/just use the black coro next to the orange coro to make a "tray" for the 2x5.
Here is are photos of Whistles current set up. LET THE GREAT DEBATE BEGIN!

I don't think the two different colors would look bad if connected. I'd go with a 2x5, as I think the ramp to the loft takes away from the bottom floor's space.

main reason why I was considering to change his cage.
the 2 different colors won't bother me. the fleece will be going over the sides/I might even later on create "fitted fleece" or my own liners.

You could always do what I did but put the extra 2x1 part on the end of the 2x4 not on the side.
It really works for me because Trixie only poos in the 'kitchen' where her hay, food and the wood bedding. DSC02241.jpg

TY for the idea. But it would not work well for the location Whistles cage is in. The "side piece" would block the fish tank stand door.

you could go with the 2x5 but leave the black part as a kitchen area like rodentcuddles suggested. I finally found some grids yesterday so have just put together a temporary 2x5 as a play pen for my girls and they are having a lovely time chasing each other up and down, so whistles might enjoy just having extra space without the kitchen area too. you could just fold the 2 adjoining ends down and tape them for now and see whet you think, you could always change it back then if it doesn't work for you
