I have a cat and his carrier is getting a bit to small for him, is it safe to use it as a guinea pig carrier?

Cat carriers are great for piggies! I'm eyeing a top opening one.

If you're just using it as an elevator method, then I don't see why not having fleece in there would be a big issue.

All right, so my cat carrier has a plastic top, plastic walls, plastic back and a plastic floor, but the front door is made out of metal grids that are not 9 by 9, so my question is, would the piggies inside get their heads stuck in the bars?

Can you meaure the grid holes or take a picture of them next to a coin (for size referemce)?

All cat carriers I saw when buying mine had tiny front door grid holes.

The issue isn't whether it's 9 x 9, it's how large the spaces are. It just so happens that a 9x9 grid works ok for adult guinea pigs, but the grid is 14 inches wide. A 9 x 9 in something three feet wide would let a small dog through, and in something 9 inches wide, a hamster might not fit.

Measure the distance across the holes in the cat carrier and see how large they are.

I have a few different kinds of cat carriers for my guinea pigs. None of them have grids large enough to fit a guinea pig's head in. In fact, the openings are smaller than cube grids.
