I'm going to build a new cage for my 2 guinea pigs, but I'm not sure which dimensions to go with. It's either going to be 120x80cm(47"x32") or 60x140cm (24"x55"). Which one should I go with?

It's the same dimensions, so I would say whatever fits in your space better, and is easier to clean.

It depends on the space you have, and your pigs. If your pigs are prone to get annoyed with each other from time to time, fight or have sows that are noticeably in heat, a wider cage is usually preferred. 60 cm wide is really on the small side when it comes to running/zoomies as well where they need the space to turn.

Go as large as you can, if you have the space for a 80x140 cm - go for it.

Oh, I do want to add-if you are putting you cage up against a wall, the 2 ft wide might be better. My cage is on a table, and is 3 ft wide, which means I have to walk all the way around it to clean it. I can't reach from one side over to the other side. If it's on the floor, you'll just have to lean a lot, so that's something to think about if you have a bad back.

I would go with the 47"x32" although that is on the small side for 2 pigs. It is just barely over a 3 grid x 2 grid cage, I have boars and they would go crazy in that size (they're also going through adolescence, so don't mind me!) :eek:hmy:

You can also buy a step stool to clean it if it's on a table, that's what I use.

Thanks guys for the responses. I'm going with the wider one because the other dimension won't fit with the pice of coroplast I'm getting.
