If my guinea pigs are startled and run like mad, bedding flies everywhere and mass amounts of it end up on my carpet. Then it gets tracked everywhere, even out in the hallway. The walls of the cage are 6 inches high. The only solution I know of is getting out the clunky vacuum cleaner and vacumming every single day.

Does anyone else have this problem or any suggestions?

You could use cardboard to make the sides higher, but your pigs may think you've just given them more supper -- mine love cardboard! Coroplast would be better, as it's plastic coated. They may nibble, but they won't dine.

You could use fleece as an alternative to the bedding you are using now. It's much cheaper because the cost doesn't add up over time like it does for regular bedding and nothing can get kicked out.
