When I buy coroplast, is it better to make the coroplast like a box around the grids (larger than grids) or to make it in the grids (smaller than grids)?

G = Grids
C = Coroplast

This one:
G G G G G G G G G
G C C C C C C C G
G C GUINEA PIGG
G C C C C C C C G
G G G G G G G G G

Or this one:
C C C C C C C C C
C G G G G G G G C
C G GUINEA PIGC
C G G G G G G G C
C C C C C C C C C

Almost all that I can remember ever seeing have the coroplast on the inside of the grids including mine. This makes it a lot easier when putting in fleece so you can go up on the edges and make the corners. If the grids were on the inside you would have to lift all the grids up, make the bedding and then put the grids back down.

Yup, I don't know one person who doesn't put their coroplast on the inside or their grids on the outside, same thing.

I think it's easier to clean when the grids are outside. If the grids were inside, they'd get peed and pooped on.

Yes, the coroplast is like a nice clean box and the grids always go outside of it. It would be a mess to have it the other way around.

Is it possible that the guinea pigs jump out of the 4 inch walls and get stuck between grid / coroplast?

No, the coroplast is the same size as the grids with less than 1/2 inch space between the coroplast and the grids. This is just enough room for me to tuck my fleece in.

Have you looked at any of the cage designs? I t almost seems like you haven't taken the time yet. It would eliminate all the questions you have had so far.

If you put the grids on the inside, the metal will probably corrode from the urine. You just need to make sure that you measure so that the coroplast is a tight fit inside the grids.

I put the grids on the inside with my first cage. It just didn't work very well. The grids would lean outward. Ouside is better.
