Since I lost my mouse, Maxi to agressive cancer in January I have been vigilet in checking all my furries for lumps and bumps near daily.

So I'm not sure how I've missed the fact that my ratty boy has a really hard left testicle? I swear a checked him a couple of days ago! The testicle looks normal but is solid whereas his right testicle is all squishy as per usual. He's also squirming really uncharacteristically when I check the testes so I fear it may hurt him.

Vet check has been booked for tonight, this one's on the credit card God bless it! Anyone had experience with a sudden hardness in thier boy's bits? Advice on what to expect welcomed.

I'm guessing your vet will do a full physical exam and aspirate the hard testicle to try and get some cells out and look at them under the microscope. This will hopefully tell you whether the cells are inflammatory or cancerous, etc. Does he live with other rats? Could he have gotten bitten there and be abscessed? Keep us posted!

Oh my goodness, it's been a long night.....

DJ's going to be neutered on Monday to remove both testes. Both his brother and he have been put on antibiotics to fight their breathing difficulties and sneezing. His brother Joe has also been put on anti-inflamatory meds. Joe took a turn for the worse over night and is no longer eating and drinking which is dire as he LOVES his food so have been up every few hours at night to syringe feed him his favourite foods in paste form to keep him fed and hydrated. It's not looking good, his tail, ears and feet look ghostly white this morning as though they have no blood in them.

And on top of all this our guinea girl is also having an operation on Monday to remove 2 lumps :(

When my rats wouldn't eat I gave them Ensure. Mine love Vanilla. And Ensure in baby food and warmed. Let us know how he is.

Joe turned blue at lunch from lack of oxygen. Raced him to the vet who put him in an oxygen tank to travel in and sent us to the specialist 40 mins drive away. I rang my friend for help (I had no car) and she charged in with her baby to drive us up north. Joe's been hospitalised and is staying with the specialist overnight. Just got a call from the vet 20 mins ago, Joe's stable but now out of the woods yet. We've said our goodbyes so all's left is to pray.

Hello, yes, we used Ensure to help our boys recover from surgery / severe respiratory issues. It worked brilliantly and I'm happy to report that both boys are happy and healthy once again. I can't be thankful enough to everyone who helped.

Our guinea girl who had the 2 lumps removed from her back quarters also recoved from surgery well.

Sadly the grim reaper seemed to be put out on the health of his previous victoms and our little Mini mouse died shortly after the others returned to health.

And soon after that my littleist guinea girl developed bloat and constipation so we had yet more emergeny vet trips and she's recovering on critical care with lots of love and hugs. She's past the bloat and constipation now but getting her digestive system up and running again is proving a slow process. She's eating tiny amounts of hay each day and I see a couple of tiny dried poops if I'm lucky. If anyone has advice on how to kick start her appetite and digestion again I'd love to hear.

Thank you for your replies and good health to all your furries.
