View Full Version : Safe outdoor play enclosure?

I'm considering bringing my guinea pigs outside a few times a week now that we've hit a warm spell here in California. Today, it is 75 degrees and sunny, and I really wished I could take them outside for a few minutes of frolicking and eating some grass. I am looking for a safe outdoor play enclosure that I could use for the warmer days. I would be out with them the entire time, of course. Any recommendations for outdoor play enclosures?

I used old wire tops from plastic bottom cages for mine: Outdoor play area for my two boys - Guinea Pig Cage Photos (http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/21574)
I have also seen people use puppy x-pens as well as cubes. There is also a section of photos on here about outdoor play areas: Outdoor Environments - Guinea Pig Cage Photos (http://www.guineapigcages.com/photos/showgallery.php/cat/516)

I plan to do the same thing in the spring. My best suggestion is to peruse the photo section with the outside enclosures for inspiration. They can be just as fun to design as their indoor cages. lol I want to make one next to our garden so when we are outside tending the garden they can be outside "mowing their own garden" that we will plant in their enclosure.

I'd like to take mine outside on nice weather but who's going to watch them when I go inside to get another one.lol

Put them all in a clothes basket and carry them all out together! hehe!
