I'd like to introduce myself...My name is Jen and I am a new mommy of two adorable guinea pigs, Annie and Clarabelle. I wanted to thank the creators of this site as well as those who keep it updated and full of such wonderful information. I read it for a week before actually making the decision to become a mommy.
The food list is a great thing to have and I use it regularly and am sure I will quickly learn and not have to keep referring to it.
My husband just built a cage and I'm going out today to find Coroplast to finish it off. The girls just love it! I also have a large, two-story cage on it's way from an online purchase site. It's also made of grids and coroplast...are these the cages that are referred to as C&C cages? I have a lot to learn.
My girls are already asserting themselves and will not use the neat hay balls or bins. They like their hay put into a trough-like dish (it's a cute carrot dish) so they can dig around and pick and choose the pieces. I have to fill it twice a day but if that's what they want...
I have tried floor time with them several times and they just do not seem to like being out of their cage. They both huddle in various tubes and sacks or they run around to the boundary edges looking up at me and squealing really loudly. Once they are back in their cage, they popcorn and eat like crazy. Yes, I do put food and water out for them when they are at floor time. Does anyone else out there have this issue? I'm going to keep trying floor time and maybe they'll get used to it.
Well, it's nice to meet everyone. Thanks for a great site for info on my new piggies!
