I just found out from my doctor that the dizzy spells and sinus infections I've been getting are being caused by a severe allergy to my Piggies. We have tried medication, special ointments, everything. I am VERY against giving them up. I've been crying non stop. Regardless, I do need to find a new home for them. I have c&c cage fixings, a smaller store cage, lots of accessories, and hidey igloos. My piggies are both a year and 2 months old. I have a male (Bo Jangles) who is neutered, and a female Shirley, who is a doll. They are both red American breed. They are sweet, tame and wonderful. They are clean, well fed, and healthy. (Although, Shirley is getting over a cold right now, poor dear.) If anyone in the San Diego area is interested, and experienced, I would love to work something out.
Please, Serious inquiries only. Thank you.

I've had flu or hayfever lile symptoms since having my piggies , maybe I'm allergic but I'm not getting rid of them. Did the doctor do some sort of test? Maybe it's the bedding that you have a reaction to??

Have you tried an air Purifier? The fanless type you can get for about 150USD at Fry's. Since they are fanless, you just leave them running all the time -- I have a slight allergy but with these I don't have any discomfort at all.

I am SO sorry. This must be so hard on you. I hope if you can't find another alternative, that they go to a wonderful home.

You are all so wonderful. Unfortunatly, the doc. did do a pin prik test that came up positive. We have 2 air purifiers, constant vaccuming...no dice. Thank you all for all the support.

What about anti allergy medication? Is it like hayfever that can be controlled?

I have a mild allergic reaction to my pigs. If one scratches me, I get little red bumps on my rist.

Have you found a home for them yet? Im only about 2 hours from you! Do you think they would be okay with 2 other females? One is about 7 months the other is only 3 months. Im planning on building a c &c cage because i love the idea of 2 stories. My cage now is 6ft by 9ft and my piggies are only in it when im not home. Otherwise they play in our piggy safe living room. If you still need to find them a home and you think my home will be okay please let me know! or if anyone has a piggy that needs a new home! im looking for a new adition and if they are bonded with someone else i am willing to make a new cage just so they can stay together. My email is
[email protected] thank you so much!

Elliepom, make sure you have an allergy to the actual pigs before rehoming them. Sometimes the actual culprit is the hay or the bedding and there are many alternatives to hay and bedding that you can try. I would hate to see you rehome your pigs that you love because the problem potentially lays with something other than the piggies themselves.

Yes, I'm sure that I have an allergy to the pigs, as I stated in my first post, I went thru the pin prick test at an allergy specialist, and found out that way. I'm not just getting rid of them because I'm tired of them, I love them. I'm re homing them because they make me sick. Please read my post before responding.

As someone who has severe allergies to piggies too, I can sympathize with you. I know everyone wants to find the answer that will let you keep your pigs, but I went through it, and I know how miserable it can be. I couldn't see because my eyes would swell up so bad. My neck and face were horribly itchy and I sneezed and sniffled like crazy. Yet, I loved them and kept on touching them. It wasn't the bedding, or anything else, and no medicine worked for long and I was forced into having to get rid of them. I couldn't live that way - I have children to take care of too. I got lucky, my dad let my little sister take them in to live with her two boys and now all four live together in a 2 x 7 C&C cage and are happy as can be. I really hope that you find them a good home, and maybe it will be someone close by that will let you visit. I'm okay visiting mine, I just dose myself up on allergy medicine and I'm okay since I'm not staying around them for more than a couple of hours at a time.

My Aunt has the same problem with her cats (actually my Uncle's cats but anyway) My Uncle gave them to my grandma so they can still visit them and they know that they are in a wonderful loving home. They pay for the food and any vet care (Then again they are picky about what she feeds them and how much. He doesn't want them getting fat like her cats.) She calls them her grandcats. Maybe if you are willing to still be part of thier lives, you can get someone to care for them. Maybe a friend or a relative?

Hey! I was wondering if you still have them, I might be able to take them, oh darn, I think I could only take one, and I never would want them split up!
