URI/Upper Respiratory Infection Is URI contageous??

So I have a baby pig that is now being treated for URI
The baby pig has never been into contact with my older pig Sweetpea
today I read online that URI is contageous...Im not sure at all if the source is reliable because that person also said that rabit food is acceptable for piggies.

anyway I did notice a very small crusty in the corner of Sweetpeas eye
and now im worried!!!
does anyone have experience with this?
I do know that sweetpea sniffed the inside of the babies hiddey at one point
please help Im one worried mommy.

Yes, it is contagious. My newer piggy Amy gave it to my 3 other pigs. I would get her checked.

is one small crusty enough to need a vet visit? or sould i see if anything else happens

Are the pigs in separate rooms? If so, I wouldn't necessarily take the older pig to the vet for a single crusty, and would keep a very close eye on her for the next few days.

If they HAVE been in contact with each other, I'd take her to the vet to see if she needs ABs, too.

they were at very opposite ends of the same room and the adtult has been in contact with baby pigs hidey..i know it was stupid

So.. my mother is a trained nurse and says that bacterial infections need a living host and will die after a period on a surface, therefore it is not certain if URI could have been contracted. However, if this happens again or there are any other signs..i will not hesitate to see a vet..
