Hi there! I'm Natalie. Tater (female red abyssinian) has been with me since August 7. She's active and funny and has adjusted very well to her new home. I decided she was ready for a friend, so on Sunday I brought home piggy number two, as yet unnamed (female black abyssinian). Both are babies with Tater having a few weeks on P2 in age.

I put P2 in a cage directly next to Tater's cage and Tater is now constantly running and wheeking. Meanwhile poor P2 huddles inside her hut. Occasionally when she thinks nobody is looking, P2 will make an appearance and Tater will begin to rumblestrut. When she comes over to Tater's side, the two of them try to chew through the bars to get closer.

Is Tater's behavior normal for an introduction? Is her constant running and wheeking something to be concerned about? Is her behavior increasing P2's stress or is Tater's presence comforting, even if noisy?

Thanks in advance!
