This is Kirby! And this is his rescue "brother" Cletus (they're not actually related, but they're both crested, and about a year old):
And this is Cletus getting a cuddle from his favorite human, my 11 YO son:
As for me, I'm an intake coordinator for a border collie rescue. I have two rescued border collies that I spend much of the rest of my time training in agility. (I'm glad the two of them are good because I show no signs of being agile myself.) I have been privileged to have had a variety of animals in my life, everything from ducks to horses, but this is our family's first foray into the wonderful world of cavies. Of course, being a rescue person myself, I understood the importance of going to a rescue right from the start. I've also long been devoted to seeking out excellence in animal nutrition, so this site is right up my alley! I appreciate the information here very much and feel it has been very helpful in making the experience go as well as it has so far. I have the materials for a C&C cage and will be working on it in the near future - they get lots of "floor time" in a big kiddie pool in the meantime.
I do have a few questions! They've been with us for four days now, and as far as I can tell, neither one of them has touched a pellet. (Oxbow, which is new to them). Should I be concerned? (They're eating their veggies and Oxbow Timothy like there's no tomorrow!) Do adult pigs "popcorn," or is that primarily a baby piggie thing? How long might it take for them to really acclimate to a new home? (They were obviously comfortable with the family they lived with at the rescue.)
Thanks for reading.
