Baby Proofing

I think all you need to do is make sure their not near anything they can get stuck in of hurt themselves with. And make sure their getting an approperiate diet. I never had to do much proffing with mine because I have a wood pen for them. It's basically no different then a normal sized piggy, just a smaller sized and different hay.

But still give them timothy hay too!

But would a baby under 6 months be able to get stuck (or through) a grid 1.5-inch grid hole?

I think I'm going to double grid until I run out of grids and as coroplast is hard to get round here I have salvaged some cardboard to make extra high walls, should do until they grow a bit.

I don't know what to do about my ramp though...

I'll probably do that too. How old should they be when you take off the cardboard and extra grids?

There really is no certain age. It depends on the size of the guinea pig. If they can't fit their head through the holes then it should be safe to un-do the baby proofing.

I guess before I get my GPs, I really need to make it as all proof.
As in the country-side, predators love them which make me worry.
So I need to make a really secure one.
I am ordering my grids but also will be getting tiny snake proof wire too even for indoor.

Not sure when my GPs will be coming until I get all the strong stuffs and good home for them. Wish will be soon thou. =)

Are you planning on housing your guinea pigs outdoors? Guinea pigs must only be kept indoors, even in a secure cage. Please see the Outdoor Environment section of this forum for details.

I don't think she's going to house her guinea pigs out doors. She said she has to snake proof it even for indoors.

Yes, I did read that. She also mentioned that there are a lot of predators in the countryside, which is why I wasn't sure...

Smile. They will be indoor as I love to watch them playing in their cage and play with them more often too or talk to them.
