Hi my name is Shanda and I am new to piggies. I seen one on a local freecycle group and new I had to have her. I was told it was a boy by the previous owner and by petco when I went to get a cage and accessories. Well then without knowing that I was helping the mills, I bought a male piggy from petco and named him Luke. Luke is about 9 weeks old. They were getting along great during the getting to know each other time. Then I put them in the cage and noticed that Luke was trying to mount my first piggy. I pulled it out imediatly and got on here and looked at the sexing section and realized that we had a girl. So her name is Layla she is 6 weeks old. I went and got the stuff to build a c&c cage. I read that they require alot of room so I made them a cage.
Then I was reading the freecycle website again and came across a post about two girl piggies. When I went to pick them up I was never so glad that I had. They were living in a little rabbit cage with cedar as bedding. They had not been getting hay or veggies. And the fluffy one had curly nails. They were being abused in my book. My husband told me that I did the right thing by getting them.
So now I have a 2x4 cage for the two older girls. There names are Butterscotch and Tootsie. And I added another floor which is sectioned off for the other two. I had to put a partition to make it a 2x2 for each. But I am going to get more supplies to make a big loft for them.
The two bigger girls don't care for the little one. That is why I have them caged this way. But we are doing really good. They are all settling in wonderfully(so far).
I am so glad that I found this site. I have found some wonderful information, and the pictures of the cages where very helpful for building mine. I catch myself sitting at the computer looking through the guinea pig pictures. They are just so cute.

Welcome, fellow Arkansan! I have found this web site to be very valuable, too. Keep researching and take care of those pretty piggies! I learn something new on this forum every day, and I'm sure my 2 piggie girls are thankful for it.
