can I add another boar?

I have two male piggys now. I just built them a huge c and c cage big enough for 4 guinea pigs. My piggys are skinny pigs and I would love to have a furry one. Do you think they would be okay if I added another male with them? Or should I just be happy with the two I have and leave it at that. Mine are young, one is 4 months old and the other is 2 months old. Also if it would be okay to add a third, does it matter the age? And where can I find a rescue in PA for guinea pigs? I want to adopt one!

Here is what I can add. I have 3 boars...2 yrs, 1 yr, and 3 1/2 months. It is best to put a bay with a more mature pig. You will probably have problems with the two you have because of their ages. Their hormones will kick in at the same time. I am not sure about Skinnies. Personally, I would wait before adding another boar until you see how they handle puberty. But, 3 boars worked at my house.

I would wait for a few months until they are 10 or 11 months before you get another pig, a bunch of male pigs going through puberty could be a problem. You could get an older pig too.

I recently put my Skinny boar in a cage with one of my "haired" boars. They seem to like each other. Sometimes Walter gets cold and he'll be snuggled against Henry, it's very cute!

I would think if you want to add another boar to your herd that you should get an older guy since you have young ones already. Look at shelters/rescues in and around your area for a little guy who is maybe between 1-2 years old.

Please remember if you get another boar to quarantine for at least 3 weeks before introducing him to your other guys and do the introductions in a neutral area. This link contains great information. https://cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm
