Re: hiding

Less activity in a pig can sometimes be a sign of illness. Do you pigs have weepy eyes or are they sneezing more often? Are they eating and drinking in good amounts?

You could always remove their hidey box for a couple hours a day and maybe they'd be my apt to socialize with you.

Re: hiding

Well guinea pigs are prey animals so their behavior may be the reason for their hiding. As long as you know they are healthy I wouldn't worry to much. You may want to invest in a scale to keep track of their weight. Weight loss is usually the first sign of any kind of illness.

If they are hiding and you are wanting them to be get used to you I suggest you remove the hidey hole while you're around and speak to them in a low voice. Veggies are also good to use for bribery.

Re: hiding

I take the hidey box out of my guinea pigs' cage when I am home so they will move around and exercise more. Then, when I am working, I put it in for security. You might want to try that.
