what are the symptoms of a URI

My rescue piggie came in with a URI. He was sneezing constantly and snot was coming out. He was on antibiotics for two weeks, and is all better now.

I would take your pig to the vet to make sure.

As guinea pigs are good at hiding illnesses, your best bet is to get it checked out to make sure nothing serious is going on. Often the only symptom of a URI is sneezing/nasal discharge or crusty eyes or nose.

I do have a couple questions though. How long has she been sneezing and how many times per day would you say she's sneezing?

I just say her sneeze yesterday. Well I am not totally sure as to how many times a day she sneezes, but during floor time which was an hour she sneezed about 5 or 6 times.
I am going to talk to my mom and get an vet to look at her.

I was also wondering how much is the estimate of a URI cost at the vet and to fix (my mom just wants to know.)

Vet costs really vary.

But it's typically the cost of the office visit plus the medicine. You can opt for a culture to determine which med to use.

Thank you! I just think it is funny cause she is only sneezing and there is no snot or eye crusties or any thing else. She eat her pellets and veggies and hay. And she is drinking her water to.
I am just going to watch her maybe try the vics rub on the sides of the cage and see if that helps.

My pigs sneeze fairly often, one more so than the other two. He's allergy prone, but he's always been this way. If sneezing is a recent develop meant in your GP I'd seek the advice of a cavy savvy vet.

I think vics is a little too strong for a piggie's respiratory tract.

Please do not use Vicks.

Vick's Vapor rub would probably irritate their lungs. I can't even stand that stuff for too long. Whenever I'd put in on my kid's chest I'd have to hold my breath.

A trip to the vet is really your best bet.
