I also brought 9lbs of hay for them, and I use a plastic box to store it. Beware of sunlight and can last for longer time.

I have 3 pigs and bought 35lbs from Kleenmama.. I keep it in the garbage bags they came in and inside of a box. 9lbs should be fine.. your piggie will love you for it! it's more hay for them to play, sleep and eat in! I don't expect to be done with my hay for probably 4 months.. 3 months if they really terrorize it

Uh oh. Time to haul out another cardboard box! Thanks for the link. I"ve read it once before too. Stupid me. Luckily I only got it less than 2 weeks ago so it's still safe.. i'll just change it tomorrow.

9 lbs isn't a ton, to us it's TINY. We go through 50lbs in 6 months with 8 pigs. We just bought a 4 lbs box 3 days ago and it's almost gone already. 9 lbs, if you keep some in the cage at all times should last a month or 2 for one pig.

If you get 9lbs of hay from Oxbow or APD it is heavy but small as the hay is compressed. I order much larger quantities so do not know the dimensions of the package but you should have no problem storing it.

I bought a really nice bale of hay from a local horse boarder that grows and cuts their own grassy hay. I just took out 2 flakes and put it in a cardboard box and gave the rest to a local rescue. 2 flakes should last me awhile for my 3 pigs.
Plus the bale only cost me $3.50.
