Hello, I currently have 3 sows, and I just made a 2X4 C&C cage. I love the cage, but I am thinking of making a larger cage on Monday. I'm either going to make a 3X4, or a 3X5. I was wondering how many sows will both a 3X4 and a 3X5 hold? According to my calculations a 3X4 is 17.48 square feet. (the grids are 14.5 inches in width and length.) A 3X5 is 21.89 square feet. So, my question is how many sows can I have with them living comfortable together? I was thinking 4 or 5 total would be fine? Any opinions would be deeply appreciated! THANKS!

ps. I love this site! :) :D

4 sows could happily live in a 2x5 (10 square grids), 5 sows could live contently in a 2x6 (12 square grids) which is the same as a 3x4. Continuing on, 6 sows could live in a 2x7 (14 square grids) and a 3x5 is 15 square grids.

I asked this same question a few days ago. I currently have 3 pigs in a 3x5 with a 2x3 basement and it works nicely. I would say no more than 4 pigs in a 3x4 and no more than 5 in a 3x5.

Hope that helps!
