I just inherited four more piggies today. This puts me at 8(2 male and 6 female). What size would be sufficient to keep the girls in. I have to keep the males separate becuase the oldest male will kill the little one. We're going to try and work on his attitude. I was thinking of making a 2x5(grids) with an upper level of about the same size. Will this be big enough?

They would need a 2x6 or greater. Upper levels dont count as cage space.

6 sows actually need a 2x7 or greater.

I actually meant 3x5 not 2x5. I could possibly do a 3x6 to stretch it just a bit longer.

Oh yes I am 99% positive a 3x5 would be plenty of room.

A 3x5 would be better than a 2x6, but I believe that it does not meet the minimum size requirement (correct me if I am wrong) recommended for 6 females. I *think* that a 3x5 is still smaller than a 2x7, although I am almost certain a 3x6 will be fine.

That's what I told my husband. He thinks we have enough room for a 3x6 which I think we do too. We just have to do a little rearranging.

Seriously, the maths is not so complicated!

This site recommends at least 2x7 (14 sq grids).
A 3x5 = 15 sq grids - so yes it is above the minimum.

If you want to know how big a cage is look at floor space. Multiply the length and width (in grids) to give the the "sq grid" floor space.
