Hi everyone! So, we were at Target this morning and found out that they are no longer going to carry the cubes. They have a new cube that is mesh but it has a long gap in the top and bottom which wouldn't work. So, we decided that we would go ahead and get what we would need to make out cage the maximum size that we could have and built it today.

It's a 2x4 on the bottom level, a 2x2, and the top level is a 2x4. So we have room to expand our family now. The girls are loving it. We also got rid of the little Tiki Hut we had and purchased 2 Giant Igloo's for a total
of 3. Gosh we are such suckers!

Wow!! That is quite a cage, I'm sure your piggies are loving it. Is it pretty sturdy? I see you have lots of cable ties so I'm guessing so. I like it!

I love the look of that! 2 questions: How are you going to clean the middle section? and how do you know Target is going to discontinue the cubes? I am freaking because I loved the fact that I can always count on them being easy to get there. If what you are saying is true then I will definately have to buy a couple of boxes to have on hand.

The 2nd and 3rd level is cleaned by a grids that opens on the front. I attatched it with zip ties and close it securely with bungee cords. As far as Target goes, when we were there, I noticed that they mostly only had the new mesh grids. I asked the associated and he told me that the brand of grids I use have been discontinued. I will try to post another picture here shortly showing the cleaning openings.

Looks really nice. As for Target, bummer. I already got two boxes of cubes from there, so they are really going to lose some business with me and all of use cavy owners who use grids for cages...Grrrr...I guess I will have to make do with the new mesh grids.

Totally awesome! I might save your plans for when I redo my ferrets cage later ;)

Don't count the target grids out just yet. I was told the exact same thing by associates at my target last summer! They had one lonely box of grids left and when I asked about a new shipment they told me that brand was being discontinued and that they would no longer be carrying grids. I was so po'ed about it. Fast forward to a couple of months ago I was in target and just for the heck of it decided to browse around and see if I could find grids..... at the back of the store I hit the mother load! They did in fact quit carrying the other brand grids, but since then they had put together a whole new organization section which included 2 whole isles of nothing but grids. A new brand, at a cheaper price, and more colors to choose from (black white and chrome instead of just white like before). YAY!
