Subscriptions to threads

I get email notifications for every thread that I reply to. I would much rather not so I go through and unsubscribe from everything. Is there anyway to change the default setting where I have to manually subscribe rather than automatically be subscribed to threads? I looked and I didn't see where to do that. Thanks!
