Squeaking hamster

Do hamsters squeak? I have 2 male Syrian hamsters (not together) one squeaks and the other has never said a word, is the squeaking normal?

He also has one eye that seems irritated off and on. From reading a few sites this could be caused by food stuck in his cheek? I'm not sure how to check it, but today it seems alright.

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance,

What shavings do yuo use? He ciuld have respitory problems. or he could just be vocal. Do yuo have the hams near each other? He might be stressed by being to close to the other ham.

They are close to each other, but in all honesty, I don't even think they realize it. They have never even glanced at one another. Felix (the one with the eye problem) is a part-time boarder. He comes with hubby's daughter every weekend.
I use hemp bedding which has absolutely no dust at all. This evening his eye is closed, but earlier today it was open.

Tomorrow we are purchasing a new, bigger cage for him.
