Hey Guys,
well on christmas eve we had an early christmas present ( ok bad joke it was quite appauling really to receive so many on christmas eve ) anyhow
14 piggies were surrendered into the shelter here. Our shelter had recently reached max capacity and with a huge effort to adopt piggies out the last few weeks it looks like our numbers just jumped up instantly with this new rescue. I've just done a head count and we currently have 119 guinea pigs here at the shelter with another 8 guinea pigs currently on foster care so all up currently their are 127 piggies. Our max was 130 and we were over our max limit so atleast we're slightly under but technically we're still at our max otherwise pigs wouldn't have to be on foster care....
Anyhow these people were forwarded onto us by the rspca who couldn't take the piggies in there's 7 sows and 7 boars and some of the sows may be pregnant so we'll need to hold onto them several weeks atleast. All the pigs were filthy and riddled with static mite and some of the pigs were quite underweight and one boy had minor mange so they've all been treated with revolution and washed in a mite wash aswell. All the pigs are very untame they're gonna need lots of handling. I don't really want to know how they were kept at their previous home but you can usually judge a book by it's cover that's all I'll say....
Anyhow yeah just wanted to share our latest news/intake here if anyone can offer support in anyway it's always greatly appreciated.
