My wife and I got a Guinea Pig about 4 weeks ago. It was, as it often is with my wife, an impulsive buy. We bought her at a local NYC Petco.
After about 3 weeks she started to look "fat".. at first we thought we may be overfeeding her, but it became clearer by the day that she was pregnant.
Although we usually like to read about whatever pet we own (our other pet is a Sheltie.. shetland sheep dog).. once we discovered our Guinea Pig was pregnant I started to read as much as I could. Found a number of good links.
Tomorrow I think I will take Mecha, that's her name, to a vet. When we came home after shopping the house smelled like nail polish and this was a warning in one of the web sites.. that if this happened one needed to take the Cavy to a vet. Luckily found a vet that opens on sundays and that specialiases in Avian and exotics.
