We live in a small appartment and let our pigs free range in the hallway (I know not ideal because of the traffic) but it's the only spot where they can have lots of free space.

Since the hallway is connected to the living room we wanted to keep them involved with us and not lock them away, therefor we keep the living room door open, So we had put a fence barrier between the door.

Now after a while we got pretty annoyed by having to step over the fences which also is much scarier for the pigs then just walking into the hallway slowly.

So we decided to train them to stay in the hallway, First thing we did was remove the fences and put down a wooden board flat on the floor as a visual boundry. Now being pigs and being curious they tried to step over it ofcourse but everytime they did we said NO in a stern voice, not too loud! and they would walk back into the hallway, After a while they actually stopped going over it, So we removed the wooden board and they only tried to go over the boundry several times since, Everytime we say NO in a stern voice.

We now have trained the pigs to stay in the hallway and only on rare occasions they attempt to walk out.

Ofcourse we would NEVER let them unsupervised without the door closed afterall they are only about 90% trained in it, but if you have a space or a room like that and you have a lack of fences or would like them removed you could attempt to train your pigs. It has turned out to be very succesfull, I had a lot more luck teaching them this then potty training!
