I have been thinking about finding a feed store or something to that effect that would sell bales of hay. Does anyone know of someplace near St. Paul in Minnesota? Also, does anyone know somewhere that sells the bedding called "Cell-Sorb"? Thanks so much for all your help! =)

Ok, well then does anyone know of a cheap online source of fresh hay? Or anywhere in MN I could get it shipped from? Thanks again! =)

Try this for online hay (they sell pellets as well).

(broken link removed)

Also, found these feed stores in the yellow pages (online) but don't know if they are near you or have what you need.

I highly reccomend Kleenmama's Hay. Shipping isn't too bad to MN.

I also highly reccomend Chuck and Don's Pet Food Outlet. www.chuckanddons.com

I think kleenmama's has a bit less of a price, plus the shipping is lower than sweet meadow's is. (I checked). Thanks for the sugestion though! =)

Ok, thanks! I looked on Chuck & Don's site. Do they sell Cell-Sorb or Aspen bedding? How much is it? Thanks! =)

Really? Not for me, when I ordered from Sweet Meadow, it was:

$19.99 for 35 lbs hay, $18.35 shipping = $38.34

From Kleenmama, it was:

$16.00 for 35 lbs hay, $26.00 shipping = $42.00

Not a huge difference but the shipping is a killer for my zone, I am in the highest zone. I am much closer to Sweet Meadow. I guess it just depends on where you live...

ooh, yes, kleenmama's hay looks really expensive right there. For me it's this:

$16 for 35 lbs+$18 s&h=$34.00 from kleenmama
$19.99 for 30 lbs+$23.45 s&h=$43.44 from sweet meadow farms

Thanks for the site, though! =)

Chuck and Don's carries a 10 pound aspen bag for $10-12. They also carry Yesterday's News and Carefresh. And all the Oxbow products (except Critical Care, Nature's Treat, and that water bottle). I'm not sure if they carry Cell-sorb or not. Call and ask;)

Ordered my hay!

I just ordered 35 lbs of hay from Kleenmama!!! It is 1/2 bluegrass and 1/2 timothy hay. Yay!!! Now I just have to wait for the money to reach her and the hay to be shipped. Thanks to everyone for being so helpful!

I need to revise my statement on how long 50 lbs would last! I just had ordered 35lbs of hay and was totally shocked when it came, at how much it was. I *thought* that was what I had ordered before. I just looked and what I ordered before was only 14lbs. I got it on June 28th so it lasted me about 6 weeks. I was just stunned looking at the giant box the UPS man brought up. Wouldn't he have been the same had I told him it was hay for little guinea pigs.

This HUGE bale of hay, 35 lbs this time, should last me about 4-5 months. LOL I am still reeling.....it is a BALE! I had a nice container that my hay sat in under their cages....now, maybe 1/3 of the bale is in it with the rest out in a cardboard box on my front porch.

Eek! Since I was thinking they went through 35 lbs so quickly, I almost had ordered some bluegrass from Kleenmama despite the horrendous shipping I would pay. Bwahahaha, I am so glad now I waited!

So my revised answer is: with 2 pigs, 50lbs may last as long as 6 months...depending on how generous you are and how much those piggers eat.

Is that when you are getting your new batch of hay? Me too. I'm really excited because this is supposed to be a great batch.

Yes, it is! I read on the guinea lynx forums about how good this crop of hay is, and I am very excited, too! Not to mention that this is my first order from her. Do you get bluegrass, timothy, or a mix? I ordered 1/2 and 1/2, just to try out the "legendary" stuff. =)

It's finally here! Whoa, 35 lbs is a lot of hay! My timothy alone filled up the box that both it and the bluegrass came in. It smells great! The piggies are currently wallowing in it! They're munching, popcorning, rumbling at each other, and just generally having a good time in the hay! It's awesome. Thanks to everyone for all your help, and I would recommend this hay to anyone!!! =)

Because of all the foster pigs I've ordered at least 5 boxes this summer. I usually get 1/2 timmy 1/2 bluegrass but this last box I ordered straight timmy because I also heard it was good stuff. And it arrived, and it is!

Not sure if you've found a bedding outlet yet but if you want something cheap the Fleet Farm carries kiln-dried pine, 7.5 cubic feet for $4. Storing it can be a problem because it's a fairly large bag.
