Hi, I'm not sure if anyone remembers but in my introduction post I said that I am working on my parents to get a rabbit. Sadly, I am not going to be able to get one this summer, but they said that if I show I have enough free time I may be able to get one come spring (which I actually think is better, I would hate to get an animal and not be able to give it the best care possible). Anyhoo, now on to the actual subject of this thread. I've been doing more research online about bunnies and I encountered the website www.rabbitsecrets.com. It looks pretty good, and I am considering signing up. Has anyone signed up for these newsletters, or knnow anything about them? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this is run by a breeder, and I doubt she has any "secrets" that aren't divulged on reputable sites like House Rabbit Society Rabbit Care Guide (http://www.rabbit.org) or Rabbit References - Health and Medicine (http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabrefs.html).

I have signed up for the free email "secrets" in the past from that site. It is basically the same information you can find on the House Rabbit Society website. Do not waste your money on it; if you would like to buy something on rabbits, I highly reccomend House Rabbit Handbook 4th edition.

I signed up for the guineapigsecrets one. I got 8 emails with info, and the rest have been "for more information, please buy my book/audio tape!" ones, so I would consider it a waste, (and it was giving out incorrect information too) The House Rabbit Society would have much more, and better, information on rabbits.

I have the guinea pig secrets one. They just keep repeating over and over and over and over. It's only like a sentence of info, some not correct.

I have signed up for Rabbit Secrets and really, all they do is try to sell you their "book" with every e-mail they send you and they bombard your inbox with many common "secrets." I guarantee you that there is NOTHING they have in their e-mails that you can't find in good rabbit care books.

I would highly recommend several books for rabbit care. I think that it's great that you're doing your studying and research beforehand -- BRAVO!
[ ] Rabbits for Dummies by Audrey Pavia
This is a misleading title -- rabbits are NOT meant for dummies, but this book is great for a lot of basic info! It also has a pretty good list of the different breeds of bunnies.
[ ] Rabbit Health in the 21st Century by Kathy Smith
A good guide to recognize yourself with bunny illnesses and proposed treatments. A good, informative guide for the involved bunny parent.
[ ] House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman
This is the House Rabbit Society book. I would recommend getting the latest edition, if you can. An excellent book with a detailed picture of your bunny's GI tract (if your bunny's GI tract isn't healthy, neither is your bunny!).
[ ] Why Does My Rabbit? by Anne McBride
British-born, but a great book behind the behavior of why rabbits do the things they do.

You have time to build up this library and these books are relatively inexpensive. Good luck!
