I just completed an order of hay, food, and the vitamin C tablets from OxBow. I also got some rat food for my rats. Has anyone else gotten the Vitamin C tabs? Just curious. Thanks. ^_^

I do have them, but only in case one of my pigs gets ill. I mash it in their food to keep their strength up.

You should not have to feed them daily if you give each of your pigs at least 1 cup of fresh veggies a day.

Thanks for the responses. I've been giving them their veggies, but I thought that this may help. I'm also super scared about them not getting enough Vitamin C. I guess I'm a paranoid pig mom. Hehe.

If you are worried, you can weigh the veggies you give your pigs, you can probably use the same scale you use to weigh your pigs, and enter the weights in here: https://www.guinealynx.info/calculator.xls

It will tell you how much vitamin C they are getting, as well as the Ca:p ratio.

If you are giving them Oxbow food and a cup of veggies a day, especially with some Sweet Bell peppers, they should be just fine for vitamin C. If they get extra, it should not be a problem however, usually extra amounts are dumped out with their urine.

Your braver than I am. I don't think I'd have the guts to lick them. ^_^

I'm preparing for bringing home Susan's two pigs by placing an order from Oxbow. Is there anything other than the Cavy Cuisine and Timothy Hay that I need to acquire from them?

Some people get some of the orchard grass as well. It has the same nutritional value as Timothy but it is supposed to be sweeter. Also, I think that way your cavy has some more choice.

I recieved my order, and I opened the hay, and Chewie came running and squealing out of her little basket house. ^_^ Then Abby did the same. They love the timothy hay from oxbow. It's so much softer than what's in the stores.
