View Full Version : New Guinea Pig Owner

Good evening, everyone. My name is Caelen (I also go by Cae), and I actually just acquired my two guinea pigs, Molly and Serena, today, after over a month of serious research, consideration, and planning. Both are female American guinea pigs, a little over a month old, and weighing in at 15 ounces. Molly is a dark and white color combination and very shy (a result of being the runt of her litter), whereas Serena is a lemon agouti/cream/white combo and quite energetic and aggressive (you should have seen her pushing around and stomping over poor Molly in the carrier during the ride home).
They currently reside in a 5 x 2 grid (about 6 feet by 2 1/2 feet) C&C Cage containing two hidey houses, a cuddle cup bed, chewing blocks, a jingley bird toy, tennis ball, a fabric play tunnel, and a little stuffed bear named Jangly (not really stuffed - he has a big bell filling him up, hence the name), as well as all the basics, of course. They haven't yet warmed up to me, this being their first day and all - but I'm sure that will change within the following weeks. I am so, so grateful to be able to have these affectionate, lovable creatures as part of my family, even just starting out. From what I have heard from my research and fellow guinea pig owners, these little guys will bring a lot of joy into my life.
I also own three cats (who have been my best friends for the past 10 years and are the lights of my life), Mowgli, Choochoo, and Pretzel... who, despite being adorable and sweet, ain't allowed nowhere near my piggies (predatory instinct and all).
Glad to now be a part of the guinea pig community,

P.S. Oh! I almost forgot! Here are two baby pictures of Molly (top 2)and Serena (bottom), courtesy their previous owner (I haven't gotten around to taking any pictures myself - I figure a flashing camera is the last thing they need when trying to settle in):

They also have a website: Breeder friendly link edited out... however, I just started it, so don't expect much save for a few observation entries until July.

Very, very cute - especially the middle one. :) Where did you find them so young?

They are adorable. I got my little Rocket when he was 2 weeks old :)

Where did you find them so young?

I believe you can find the answer to that by reading the first entry in the link Caelen posted .

The look on the pigs face in the bottom picture reminds me of the miffed windswept Tuppy picture. Very cute.

Cute pigs caelen, but this forum is ANTI-BREEDING and PRO-RESCUE. Webpages leading to breeders are not allowed to be posted here. Please do not post your website again.

Also please do not post in fancy colors or fonts. It makes your posts hard to read.

It does kinda, doesn't it. Luckily Tuppy and buddies haven't been outdoors for over a week now; if they had she would be looking absolutely livid! (It's blowing a gale this week.)
