I would like to add small loft to my guinea pig's cage. I found this shelf I think would work but was wondering if it looked safe.
(broken link removed) <- that's the link.
I was wondering if anyone tryed this product. If not, do you have a loft in your cage. I'm a little concerned because I'm afriad my piggy will fall off. Thanks!!

You definitely do not want to use that shelf. Pigs should never have a wire based floor under their feet. It could be adapted however if you wanted something about halfway up the side of your cage, like a look out post. You would need to cut a piece of coroplast or something similar to make a solid floor for the shelf. Many pigs can get up on a shelf about 7" off the ground, so you would probably not need a ramp to it.

You also may want to look in the Photo Galleries at the multi-level cages for ideas on how to make a loft.
