During the night my PEW guinea pig Lulu, passed away. She was 4 years old and was my first rescue pig from the Humane Society. Late last week I noticed she was lethargic and having difficulty urinating. I immediately suspected either bladder stones or a UTI so I took her to the vet the next day and it was confirmed that she had a very large bladder stone. Today was the big day for her surgery to have it removed but my sweet girl didn't make it. She died in the night, here at home, in her cage with her guinea pig friends nearby.
I made her a little box with a poem on it, telling her how much I love her and how sorry I am that I wasn't able to help her. She was a special girl, with a big heart, and an even bigger spirit. She will be sorely missed by her herd as she was the matriarch. Curly Sue will probably assume the position with a heavy heart, as I found her sleeping next to Lulu this morning.
We will all miss her dearly. Lulu was one of a kind and so full of life and love. See you at the Rainbow Bridge, sweet girl..
