Hello!! I have a pregnant piggie (by accident, of course (http://i.viglink.com/?key=98cf3ca1c652b0b86cfe02c7f5b9c979&insertId=c3d1190b41ee0418&type=H&mid=42502&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A2&libId=jofbanwy010015mi000DAo9rp80o8&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.guineapigcages.com%2Fforum%2 Fthreads%2F120148-She-s-pregnant-and-her-bum-is-wet&v=1&iid=c3d1190b41ee0418&out=http%3A%2F%2Ftracking.groupon.com%2Fr%3FtsToke n%3DUS_RAK%26url%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.groupon .com%252Fdeals%252Fcoursehorse-joe-coffee-company-3%253Fz%253Dskip&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.guineapigcages.com%2Fforum%2 Fmembers%2F43039-cranberrybaby&title=Genitals%20She%27s%20pregnant%20and%20her%20 bum%20is%20wet%3F&txt=%3Cspan%3Ecourse%3C%2Fspan%3E). Didn't know we had a male.) I have had the male for 66 days but I am not sure of the exact date she got pregnant. She is MASSIVE and I can feel the babies moving (http://i.viglink.com/?key=98cf3ca1c652b0b86cfe02c7f5b9c979&insertId=b94fdadc656c3b70&type=H&mid=8097&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A2&libId=jofbanwy010015mi000DAo9rp80o8&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.guineapigcages.com%2Fforum%2 Fthreads%2F120148-She-s-pregnant-and-her-bum-is-wet&v=1&iid=b94fdadc656c3b70&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pjtra.com%2Ft%2F1-8097-43737-8097%3Furl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fspencergifts.affi liatetechnology.com%252Fredirect.php%253Fnt_id%253 D7%2526url%253Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.spencersonl ine.com%252Fproduct%252F131759.uts&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.guineapigcages.com%2Fforum%2 Fmembers%2F43039-cranberrybaby&title=Genitals%20She%27s%20pregnant%20and%20her%20 bum%20is%20wet%3F&txt=%3Cspan%3Emoving%3C%2Fspan%3E), for sure. I think that the pelvic bone is separated about a fingers width, maybe more. She is separated from my four other piggies and is in her own cage. She only gets up to eat but lays down the rest of the time. But just now I noticed her bum and around her genitals is all wet. I'm pretty sure it isn't pee and I've heard her water could have broken but i'm not exactly sure. She doesn't look like she's have contractions or anything. HELP!

If your cage is large and there's no male in it, there was no need to separate her. Most guinea pig sows make good aunties, and will help take care of the pups. You have to watch carefully to make sure you don't have the one-in-a-thousand sow that won't get along with pups, but most of the time, things will be fine.

She's very likely leaking urine and maybe amniotic fluid. You should keep a dry pad under her, but try to move her as little as possible while you're doing that. Otherwise, just observe her.

All four of my female guinea pigs are pregnant due to there being a male for so long and me not knowing it My vet told me to separate them so I am just doing what she told me to do. Thank you for the response! :)

Do you have an exotic vet, or are you using a small animal vet? Small animal vets get little or no training in the care of exotics, and a few of them are downright dangerous.

As long as you've got a BIG cage for all those pigs, you don't need to separate. If you do separate, then you've got to do multiple introductions later, and at a time when the sows are protective of the pups. If it were me and my cage were big enough, I wouldn't even dream of separating them.

I think that I may have a small pets vet but i will try to find a new one as I adore my piggies and want the best! I am in the process i building a bigger cage at the moment and it is almost finished!! Here is the big girl! She is much bigger now as this was taken a while ago. (: 85442

Do find an exotic vet. You'll save money and time in the long run, and in the case of an emergency, maybe your pig's life.

She's been laying in the same place for a while and she kinda just looks like she's sleeping. She's still eating and drinking though. Will she be okay? Is she just like this because she's pregnant? She lifts her head when I walk up to her and stuff.

There's no way to tell. Guinea pigs have bicornate uteri, meaning two horns. So the abdomen pokes out, instead of underneath, if there are pups in both horns. But each could have only one large pup. Without an x-ray, there's no way to know.

Hello!! So no babies yet, but today her belly is hanging on the ground which it hasn?t been doing, what does this mean? Is she close to having the babies?

Absolutely adorable babies! I'm sorry one didn't make it.

Can I offer one small piece of advice? Replace that tarp with coroplast ASAP. You don't want the little ones (or ANY of them) eating it.

I usually have it covered but I was cleaning everything that had blood on it out of that cage!! I will definitely replace it when I can though!
