For any other Aussies out there who have been wondering about this "Timothy Hay", I've been doing a bit of research...

The closest we can get in Aus is called "Oaten Hay".

Oaten Hay has minimum 95% Oats & max 5% wild oats & Barley. Grade: AH1+ is the purest/best, AH2 is medium, & AH3 is average & has some weather damage.

So that's a bit of ammo to go into your local feed store/city farmers with!

Thanks n1shell!

Much much appreciated. I've visited perhaps 10 animal feed supplies around my area with no luck in getting info and the best hay. There is a blank expression I am getting very tired of that comes over the shopkeepers faces when I start asking about hay types. They generally just point at their hay (usually more like straw) and say "it's hay mate!"

This gives me something to go on. cheers.
